Staying true to this year’s theme, “Hum Sabka Festival” (A Festival for All), the celebrations commenced with a vibrant Pachranga Parade, not merely a display of folk culture, but a powerful symbol of inclusivity, diversity and unity, setting the spirit of the entire festival.

The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Neeraj K. Pawan, Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of Rajasthan. Addressing the gathering, he said: “The objective of Nanne Kalakaar Festival is to connect art with society. Adding to the excitement was Jaipur’s first-ever Baby Rave, organised in collaboration with the Global Health Happiness Festival (an initiative of Kogta Foundation). Curated by Act to Action, this joyful dance session brought together children, parents and even grandparents, becoming one of the most cheerful and colourful highlights of the festival.

As evening approached, Kabir Cafe mesmerised the audience with a soulful performance featuring songs like “Mat Kar Maya Ka Ahankar,” “Kya Leke Aaya Hai,” and “Do Din Ka Hai Mela”, creating an emotional blend of Kabir’s timeless poetry and contemporary music.

Later, the Textile Walk showcased Rajasthan’s rich textile heritage reimagined through AI and modern technology, offering a visually stunning experience where tradition met innovation. The walk was partnered by Rajasthan Fashion Fest, with Killer Jeans as styling partner and Style A Craze as salon partner.

The night reached its grand crescendo with a powerful performance by the legendary Indian Ocean Band. With iconic tracks like “Tu Kisi Rail Si Guzarti Hai,” “Man Kasturi,” and “Bande,” Rahul Ram fused rock and folk to keep thousands of spectators dancing till late night, transforming the first day into a historic musical memory.

Regular Review Meetings and Follow- ups with Investors are key to Expediate MoU Implementation: CS

Jaipur: Chief Secretary, Shri Sudhansh Pant, chaired a review meeting today to assess the progress of MoUs signed during the Rajasthan Rising Global Investment Summit 2024.

During the review, the Chief Secretary appreciated the efforts of all departments in ensuring that investment commitments are effectively translated into on-ground action. He noted that MoUs worth INR 7 lakh crore has already been grounded, reflecting nearly 20% progress in implementation. This showcases the growing investor confidence in Rajasthan’s business ecosystem.

Emphasizing the importance of continuous monitoring and transparency, the Chief Secretary directed department officials to upload recent photographs and status updates of ongoing groundbreaking and implementation activities on the designated portal. This, he said, would help showcase tangible progress and build trust among investors and stakeholders.

Emphasizing the importance of consistent follow-up, Chief Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant said, “Regular review meetings, proactive engagement with investors, and transparent procedures are key to accelerating MoU implementation and ensuring smooth execution.”

Additionally, the Chief Secretary urged departments to maintain momentum and work collectively to achieve the milestone of grounding MoUs worth INR 9 lakh crore by December 2025. He highlighted that timely facilitation, proactive coordination, and swift resolution of investor concerns are key to realizing the state’s vision of sustained industrial growth and job creation.

In addition to this, Shri Pant further directed the officials to apprise the investors about RIICO’s Direct Land Allotment Scheme. The scheme offers industrial plots at reserved price to investors who have signed MoUs with the state under "Rising Rajasthan".

The sixth phase of RIICOs Direct Land Allotment Scheme has commenced on 30th October 2025 and offers industrial plots to investors in various new and existing industrial areas developed by RIICO.

Jaipur : IIHMR University, Jaipur, successfully concluded a five-day customized Training Program on Hospital Management for 28 Senior Medical Officers (SMOs) of the Government of Punjab. The program was designed to strengthen healthcare delivery in Punjab by equipping senior medical officers from Community Health Centres (CHCs) and District Hospitals with advanced managerial competencies.

Welcoming the participants, Dr. P.R. Jaipur : IIHMR University, ranked #1 Healthcare Management University in India, celebrated the inauguration day of the MBA and MPH Programs, batch 2025-27, marking the beginning of the academic journey for the 463 students of the MBA and MPH programs. Mr. Paresh Kumar, CEO and co-founder of Dev Insights, suggested that discussing failures and successes is equally essential. He further shared, “Knowledge alone is not enough. Jaipur : Archana Surana, Founder and Director of ARCH College of Design & Business, Jaipur, has been re-elected to the 11-member Executive Board of the prestigious Cumulus Global Association of Art & Design Education and Research for the 2025–2028 term. The announcement came during the Cumulus Nantes 2025 conference held in France, which brought together leading global voices in art, design, and media education.

Cumulus Association is an international network presently comprising nearly 400 institutions across 71 countries, and steadily increasing in number every year. It promotes collaboration, research, and innovation in the field of art and design. Established in 1990 by Aalto University in Finland and the Royal College of Art in the UK, the association serves as a dynamic platform for exploring how design can create meaningful change in the world.

This election marks a significant milestone not only in Surana’s professional journey but also for India’s growing voice in global design conversations. She served as the Vice President in her previous tenure on the board of the Cumulus Association from 2022 to 2025, where she led several notable initiatives. One of the key contributions was the launch of the Cumulus Student Talent Camp titled ‘Design Identity Direction (DID),’ hosted by ARCH College in Jaipur in 2023. She also played a vital role in facilitating a Memorandum of Understanding between the Cumulus Association and the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), India, creating internship opportunities for students with over 10,000 handicraft industry members across India.

In addition to administrative leadership, Surana presented Indian perspectives on prominent world stages. She delivered a keynote on ‘Responsible Fashion: Swipe Right’ at the Fashion and Sustainability conference held at Universidade Lusófona in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2024. She addressed the theme of ‘Wellbeing in Design’ in another keynote, delivered in 2023, at Xiamen University, Beijing, China. She also chaired the ‘Women in Design’ working group from 2022 to 2025, consistently spotlighting gender equity, ethical leadership, and transformative design practices.

Over the years, Archana Surana has contributed to several international conferences, including sessions at L’École de Design Nantes Atlantique in France, Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Budapest, University of Antwerp in Belgium, Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in China, and the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, USA. Her talks ranged from topics such as ethics in design and future leadership to inclusivity, adaptation, and design’s role in challenging times.

Speaking about her re-election to the Cumulus Executive Board, Surana said, “Jaipur is where I come from, and I carry its essence with me. To represent India and my city on a global platform like Cumulus is both an honor and a responsibility. Jaipur : In a major medical breakthrough for Rajasthan, doctors at Eternal Hospital, Jaipur, have successfully replaced the tricuspid heart valve without open-heart surgery – a first-of-its-kind procedure in the state. Until now, only the aortic and mitral valves could be replaced using transcatheter techniques, but Eternal Hospital’s expert heart team has now achieved this milestone with the help of Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve Replacement (TTVR).

Dr. Prem Ratan Degawat, Director of Mitral & Tricuspid Valve Therapy, Associate Director TAVR & Senior Structural Heart Disease Expert at Eternal Hospital who performed this procedure said that "The complex procedure was performed on a 57-year-old male patient from Jayal, Nagaur, who had previously undergone two open-heart surgeries – first in 1985 and again in 2017. Due to severe bleeding complications during the second surgery, including heavy bleeding, a third open-heart surgery was considered extremely high-risk.

The patient was facing serious health issues, including breathlessness, leg swelling, fluid accumulation in the abdomen, and fluid in the lungs for the past few months. Given his prior surgical history and deteriorating condition, open-heart surgery was ruled out.

The heart team at Eternal decided to proceed with TTVR, a cutting-edge, minimally invasive technique in which the damaged tricuspid valve is replaced via catheter – without opening the chest. The entire procedure was completed in just 30 minutes.

Fast recovery – Discharged in just three days

Dr. Prashant Dwivedi, Director & Incharge for Structural Heart Disease program at Eternal Hospital, shared that the patient made a swift recovery and was discharged within three days of the procedure.

He added, “Compared to traditional surgery, TTVR is much safer and allows for quicker recovery. In this case, the patient showed immediate improvement in symptoms.”

Empowering Women Entrepreneurs Through Rajeevika & ARCH Business Incubator

Reaffirming its commitment to social impact through design, ARCH College has partnered with RAJEEVIKA, a Rajasthan government initiative dedicated to uplifting women artisans. As part of this initiative, ARCH hosted Neeru Meena, State Project Manager at RAJEEVIKA, for an interactive session with students. Under the ‘Raj Sakhi’ brand, students will co-create market-ready products in self-care, fashion, home décor, bags, and soft toys, while also participating in village visits and storytelling-based design interventions. This hands-on learning experience equips students with real-world entrepreneurial skills while helping artisans modernize their craft for contemporary markets.

Expanding its international academic footprint, ARCH College recently hosted representatives from Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), Budapest. Jaipur: The Government of Rajasthan is focused on strengthening the state's tourism industry. Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari stated that Rajasthan’s Film Tourism Promotion Policy is being further refined to support both the tourism sector and the film industry. She noted that IIFA 2025 will bring Rajasthan into the international spotlight, encouraging more filmmakers to choose the state for their productions. She added that hosting IIFA in Rajasthan marks an important step in connecting modern cinema with heritage, further strengthening tourism while boosting the state's cultural and economic influence.

He noted that cinema and tourism are closely linked, as films have the power to introduce destinations to a global audience. Movies can elevate a destination’s global standing, as seen with Satyajit Ray’s 1974 classic ‘Sonar Kella’ (The Golden Fortress), which brought international recognition to Jaisalmer Fort. Its intriguing themes of reincarnation and mystery drew tourists, particularly from Bengal and other states, a trend that continues even today. Jaipur: Students from ARCH College of Design & Business are making a global impact through the prestigious Erasmus+ Co-LIFE Project, a unique international collaboration bringing together universities from Denmark, India, Belgium, and Finland. The initiative focuses on fostering cross-cultural learning and innovation-driven solutions to real-world challenges.

As part of the program, six students from ARCH College, pursuing Masters in Design, embarked on an enriching journey to the Goa Institute of Management (GIM). Their experience was filled with insightful discussions, immersive learning, and hands-on engagement with pressing global issues. One of the significant aspects of the program was a session on menstruation, where students explored diverse cultural perspectives on the topic. The session also emphasized sustainability in menstrual products, highlighting the environmental impact of conventional sanitary pads and exploring sustainable alternatives like bamboo-based biodegradable products.

A major highlight of the program was the exploration of cultural diversity, teamwork, and impact-driven innovation. Students participated in thought-provoking activities such as creating mood boards to understand how culture influences behavior and creativity. They also engaged in field visits, where they examined real-world challenges faced by communities and businesses, brainstorming innovative solutions to address societal and environmental issues. These experiences helped them develop a deeper understanding of design thinking and its applications in problem-solving.

On another significant day, students actively participated in the International Roundtable Conference on sustainability, where they engaged in meaningful discussions on pressing environmental and economic challenges. They also took part in a hands-on Design Thinking & Learning by Doing (LbD) Workshop, which provided them with a structured approach to ideation, collaboration, and innovation. Through these sessions, students refined their problem-solving abilities and gained valuable insights into sustainable entrepreneurship.

Students also had the unique opportunity to visit Sahakari Spice Farm, a 130-acre plantation maintained by five generations of farmers. This experience provided them with a deeper appreciation for the cultivation and significance of various spices in both culinary and traditional medicine practices. Learning about the intricate farming techniques and the cultural heritage associated with spice production offered a holistic perspective on sustainability and agriculture.

Throughout the program, students worked on real-world challenges, including analyzing water contamination issues faced by communities. They collaborated to develop innovative solutions, focusing on raising awareness among government officials and designing data-driven frameworks to highlight the urgency of addressing water-related concerns. The culmination of the project saw the students presenting their research findings and proposed solutions, showcasing their ability to apply design thinking to critical societal issues.

The MoU signing event witnessed the participation of key industry leaders, including N.K. Abhyutthanam Director Riddhi Chandrawat said that “Khushiyon Ki Gaadi” is being run in various areas of Jaipur city with the aim of taking art and sports to the children of economically weaker sections, along with raising awareness about the Right to Education Act and environmental protection among the general public through street plays. Under this campaign, art kits, sports material, medical health kits, sanitary napkins etc. are being distributed to children. This campaign will run till 3rd January and this chariot will come to an end at the Nanhe Kalakar Festival being organized by the organization on 4-5th January.

Today, on the first day, Khushiyon Ki Gaadi reached Kathputli Nagar. Where, children away from the mainstream were made aware about the right to education, cleanliness and art and culture of Rajasthan. This vehicle will pass through various areas of Jaipur. During this, Spot the Khushiyon Ki Gaadi competition is also being organized. One can participate in the said competition by scanning the QR code given on the vehicle.

To offer sacrifice in this Maha Yagya of Nanhe Kalakar Festival, four different types of music bands including Indian Ocean, Rahgir, Neeraj Arya Kabir Cafe and Yugam Band will perform.

More than fifty folk artists of Rajasthan will perform various types of folk dances in Nanhe Kalakar Festival.

Badminton Asia Senior Open 2023

Jaipur :  Representing India in the Badminton Asia Senior Open 2023, Himani Punia of Jaipur won two titles. Himani has won two silver medals for India in the Women's Singles 40+ and Women's Doubles 40+ categories. This tournament was held in Danang, Vietnam from 11 to 17 December. Expressing happiness over this achievement, Himani said, “I feel immensely proud to win medals for my country. For this, I am extremely grateful to my coach, family and well-wishers who always reposed their faith in me.”

- Awareness week for World Disability Day

Jaipur : On the eve of World Disability Day (3 December), an awareness fair was organised by the students, parents and staff of Umang on Saturday, 2 December at GT Central Mall, Jaipur. The fair was preceded by a Flash mob performance by students and also involved them holding Plaque Cards on rights of disabled and quotes on inclusivity and disability. Hundreds of passersby showed enthusiasm; many stopped, watched, got involved and left with new knowledge and perception.

Deepak Kalra, Director, Umang, said that Children are like sponges; they soak up whatever they are immersed in. They have curiosity or better they are born scientists. Every child wants to learn new things, play, be loved and cared for, feel safe and make a friend. Each child has these same exact hopes and desires whether with or without disabilities. She further informed that this World Disability Day, students and staff of Umang, resource centre for disabled, celebrated this day in the form of an awareness week, reaching out to hundreds of children through Disability Day Awareness Fairs. The staff developed several games based on knowledge related to different disabilities and rights of persons with disabilities. These games were accompanied by posters spreading awareness and knowledge about disability.

Deepak Kalra further informed that last week as part of the Awareness Week, Umang organised awareness fairs in a number of schools, such as Jayshree Periwal High School, Rukmani Birla High Secondary School and Cambridge Court High School. Students of other schools responded to this mela with excitement, warmth, encouragement and open arms. They not only immersed themselves into the games but also spent quality time playing, conversing and developing their own games and new friendships with students of Umang. There was great response from all the schools, however some of the best feedback received were from the students who now felt more confident in knowing how to support and encourage persons with disabilities and how to work together as a team, she said.

Jaipur : As Jaipur prepares for the 17th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival, the Jaipur Music Stage, running concurrently with the 'greatest literary show on Earth,' has unveiled its incredible line-up of performers. JMS will present a diverse array of artists from the Indian subcontinent, offering a rich tapestry of musical genres that reflect a fusion of style, sound, and history. 

Acclaimed singer, songwriter, and poet Alif (Mohammad Muneem) will be performing on the first evening. He is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival Award for the single Lalnawat, IRAA Award for the single Like a Sufi, and the IIMA Award for ‘Best Folk Song’ - Ride Home.  Alif recently featured in Coke Studio Bharat's Season 2 where he was the vocal composer for Kya Karie Korimol. The evening will also feature The Tapi Project, comprising Yogendra Saniyawala (acoustic & bass guitar, lyrics, composition), Swati Minaxi (voice), Gaurav Kapadia (drums) and Biju Nambiar (keyboards, bass and drums). The band experiments with intricate genres in music like folk, trip-hop, jazz, and ambient textures and uses folk instruments as an essential part of their band.
The second evening of JMS will feature Prabh Deep, a Delhi-based multi-faceted artist, who has evolved into one of the region's brightest visionaries, making his mark as one of the best storytellers in the game today. While ‘Class-Sikh’ was a deeply autobiographical project, Deep showcased his ability to craft intricate and vivid narratives that spoke to larger audiences in subsequent releases. This can be seen on his ‘K I N G’ EP and his critically acclaimed ‘Tabia.’ The second evening will also feature a performance by The Revisit Project, a group which unravels the complexity and rigour of jazz with a distinctive and characteristic twist. Their music combines a solid groove, old-school funk, and rhythmic jazz while offering pointed observations about life, love, and politics in India. Originating in 2014 as a tribute band, they sought to rediscover some of the lost treasures of Hindi film music, infusing contemporary Funk & Jazz fusion into their renditions.

The final evening will witness an incredible set featuring renowned singer-songwriters Harpreet and Salman Elahi. Harpreet is a versatile artiste who sings original musical compositions in Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali, Assamese, Rajasthani and Haryanvi. He is best known for creating musical scores to epic works of humanist poets like Kabir and Bulleh Shah. Mumbai-based musician Salman Elahi’s soothing voice has captured the hearts of over 20 million people worldwide with his popular song Pahadon Mein. Writing and singing primarily in Urdu/Hindi, Elahi believes in using his music to express his thoughts about life and self-discovery. The evening will also showcase India's ever-evolving band When Chai Met Toast (WCMT). The band consists of vocalist Ashwin Gopakumar, guitarist Achyuth Jaigopal, keyboard player Palee Francis and drummer Pai Sailesh. Formed in 2016 with their debut EP 'Joy of Little Things,' the quartet swiftly gained attention for their unique multilingual lyrics, infectious sing-along choruses, and incorporation of acoustic folk instruments.

Jaipur, October 17th, 2023: As Day 3 of the SFA Championships unfolded in Jaipur, "She is Gold" took center-stage, celebrating the prowess and determination of female athletes. The day was marked by the participation of more than 250 female athletes from across the state, competing with zeal on the track, the courts an in racquet sports, at the iconic Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

The basketball courts looked glorious with female athlete contingent across schools competing to bring their school on the leaderboard. The U-11 team in basketball (for girls) saw Cambridge Court World School bag all three podium positions and a gold in the U-18 team in basketball, as well! The U-16 team in basketball (for girls) had SS International School pick bronze in the game. 

Athletics set the mood for the day with events spanning the 100m, 300m, and 600 m categories for boys and girls from U-12 to U-18. From the nail-biting heats to the pulsating finals, the track echoed with spirit of competition. The U-14 in 100m girls, saw the top three positions going to Cambridge Court World School, with Adwita Sharma at number one, followed by Naisha Malaviya and Nayani Vijay at second and third positions respectively. The U-14 100m boys saw an interesting mix of schools, with Daksh Jangir from Dharav High School bagging gold, Prabhav Singh Rathore picking silver and Dhananjay Soni taking home the bronze.  

On the badminton courts, young shuttlers in the U-11 to U-15 male and U-11 and U-13 female categories showcased their agility and precision, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats. Football had its moments of glory, as the U-10 and U-12 boys delved deep into their league matches, pushing their limits with every pass and goal. Kabaddi was a highlight with the U-14 girls engaged in gripping league matches, foreshadowing the promise of exhilarating action in the upcoming rounds. Additionally, the anticipation is mounting as the finals for U-14 and U-19 boys, as well as U-14 girls, are scheduled for tomorrow, ensuring a day filled with nail-biting competition and thrilling moments.

Nandini Jyoti, an athlete from Maharishi Arvind School, said, ‘’I pursue this path because I love running. My experience has been very good, and I plan to take sports as a career. I look forward to participate in the SFA Championship again. While I don't have one specific rival, my ultimate goal is to break the PT Usha Challenge and win a medal for India."

As the championships progress, Day 4 promises to elevate the level of excitement. Jaipur, October 14th, 2023: Sports For All (SFA) - India’s leading tech-enabled multi-sport school competition platform, today commenced with Jaipur’s inaugural edition of the SFA Championships. The opening ceremony bought together athletes, schools, and coaches, highlighting the city's abundant sporting talent and enthusiasm. 

With record participation, athletes competed at a scale never before imagined for school sports, in the country. SFA Championships aims to unveil the city's best-kept athletic talent, to discover the "number one school in sports", and eventually enable athletes to compete across geographies.

Today, October 14th made a historic beginning for school sports. SFA Championships were conducted simultaneously in 3 - Jaipur (kickoff), Indore (closing) and Dehradun (biggest weekend).  Across 8 state-of-the-art sporting venues in 3 cities, athletes competed in 12 sporting disciplines – all within one day. This is the first time that school sports has witnessed a scale, this magnificent.

The inaugural day of the SFA Championships took place at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, featuring football, carrom, speedcubing and chess competitions. Additionally, the RSSC Oases Shooting Range was the venue for shooting matches, while skating contests unfolded at the JP Skating Club Banked Track, where more than 500 athletes graced the rink on day one!

Chess enthusiasts witnessed the excitement with boys participating in categories from U-7 to U-19 and girls in categories from U-9 to U-15. Young minds showcased their strategic prowess and determination, setting the stage for intense competitions in the days ahead. Simultaneously, Carrom enthusiasts, including boys in the U-12, U-14, and U-18 categories, and girls in the U-12 category, participated in knockout matches that left the audience spellbound with their remarkable skill and precision.

Against the backdrop of other exciting sports like chess and carrom, shooting competitions added a unique dimension to the SFA Championships. CIBJO Congresses serve as the official gathering place for the World Jewellery Confederation’s Assembly of Delegates, and are also the venue for the annual meetings of CIBJO’s sectoral commissions, where amendments can be introduced to the organisation’s definitive directories of international industry standards for diamonds, coloured stones, pearls, gem labs, precious metals, coral and responsible sourcing, known as the Blue Books.

Mr. Gaetano Cavalieri, President, CIBJO, said in his welcome address, “CIBJO is the oldest international jewellery association in the world and will celebrate 100 years in Year 2026. CIBJO Congress is being held again after almost 4 years (2019 CIBJO Congress at Bahrain) and the world and industry has changed considerably. The experience of visiting India is overwhelming as India is a country which excites all the senses. The pandemic was an unimaginable yet transformative event; but the trade has now adapted to the new circumstances showing its inherent resilience. Business models of fine jewellery players are evolving rapidly. G7 countries, which accounted for half of all jewellery sales, will be introducing new norms and standards with respect to traceability, trust and transparency. CIBJO is a trusted organisation, which protects interests of members. It prescribes policy framework to enable and empower industry to put in place tools to operate within law to remain as transparent, honest, sustainable and responsible. We shall discuss and review all matters of international relevance for the trade. However, of 17 sustainable goals of the UN - Partnership is the most important one.” 

Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, said, “Jaipur is a fitting location for CIBJO Congress as it is a living, breathing testament to the craft and artistry that our industry possesses. The Kimberley Process Source protocol for rough diamonds which started based on demand from consumers,  is going through a reform cycle and we are committed to support such reform. Consumer’s confidence should be protected at any cost. So, our Government is also discussing with G7 countries the new measures for segregation of diamonds that they are demanding from the trade based on current geopolitical situation. The 2023 CIBJO Congress will also address the pressing issues and opportunities that define our industry.”  

Mr. Pramod Kumar Agarwal, Vice President, India, CIBJO and Chairman, NGJCI, said, “We are glad that more than 135 overseas delegates, including representatives of some of the top global jewellery brands are attending the CIBJO Congress. A few of them must have come to Jaipur for the first time. Today, we estimate that our industry employs around 2 lakh skilled individuals in and around Jaipur, carrying on a tradition of enamelling and gem-cutting that has stood the test of time. The city of Jaipur is playing a very important role in Coloured Gemstones and Jewellery. There are two Gems & Jewellery Special Economic Zones, one Domestic Tariff Zone of Gems & Jewellery, a world class training institute, IIGJ, a Gem Certification Laboratory and Exhibition and Convention Centre, all located are at one place. Jewellers Association, Jaipur and GJEPC will be developing the largest gem bourse in the world in Jaipur, India. The delegates at CIBJO Congress can exchange the views with each other and explore the possibility of future business. CIBJO is actively working on Sustainable Development Goals, it is in support of Supply Chain Traceability and a policy of Accurate Product Disclosure, which is need of the hour too.”

Mr. R. Arulanandan, the Director of the Department of Commerce, Government of India, said, “CIBJO is one the oldest gem & jewellery organisations in the world. Legend has it that the founder king of Jaipur Sawai Jaisingh invited artisans from all over world to set up gem & jewellery workshops adding a historical significance to the CIBJO Congress being held here. India is committed to furthering gem & jewellery trade and the Foreign Trade Policy has a separate section for this sector. India holds an important position in global supply chain network.  India has taken early initiatives such as creation of many new harmonised code systems to identify different gem & jewellery industry segments leading to correct classification and valuation. It is good to see GJEPC and CIBJO work together for enhancing trust, traceability and transparency.” 

Ms. Feriel Zerouki, President, WDC, said, “India has been the heart of the global gem & jewellery business. India continues to play an increasingly central role in the global supply chain. India is now much more than traditional focus on cutting and polishing centre. India is now emerging as a rapidly growing global hub and consumer centre. It is always exciting to be in India where the passion, experience and expertise in the gem & jewellery business is growing constantly. Our business is cyclical and eventually the cycle rebounds and we shall experience upswing. We need to be prepared and ready to capture future opportunities. We need to think long term consumer interests and expectations. Traceability, Responsible sourcing and Sustainability are the key mantras. India has made progress in these areas. GJEPC has been spearheading fruitful discussions and advocating key perspectives to boost consumer confidence. We thank GJEPC for being unwavering in its support for developing G7 solutions framework in an effective practical and accessible manner.”   

Mr. Yoram Dvash, President, WFDB, said, “The World Federation of Diamond Bourses is closely linked to the gem & jewellery industry. As economies are struggling and the US and China are facing challenging times, we are advocating Sustainability Responsibility and Transparency. Industry faces external and internal challenges. De Beers recognised the challenges faced by natural diamond industry and as key stakeholder, it has decided to invest $20 mn in marketing programs to enhance demand in the forthcoming festival season. CIBJO will discuss radical steps to boost the demand for natural diamonds. The WFDB along with GJEPC and CIBJO Congress will support the objectives of the G7 and create framework for self-regulation in the industry.” 

Mr. Damien Cody, President, ICA, said, “The world’s gemstone industry has been in existence for thousands of years and it will continue to endure. The potential for growth in China and India is phenomenal and enormous. Gem & jewellery trade is trying to win customers back in the context of geopolitical and economic pressures. The demand at the top end of market is growing as seen in auctions. Impact of synthetics has grown and though disruptive, it has a place in the market. The marketing of synthetics needs to be controlled. The consumer needs to have clear unambiguous messages with full disclosures and disclaimers. The opposite will impact trust. Consumers are demanding more in terms of environment and sustainability. Complete transparency is impossible in gemstones but members are evolving and embracing continuous enhancements. Artisans and craftsmen communities should not feel the heat and impact of rapid changes. The wonderful vibrant stories of artisanal communities need to be celebrated across the world.”

Special sessions will shine a spotlight on Colored Gemstone Responsible Sourcing, Diamonds, Fei Cui, and Precious Metals. Notably, the congress will feature exclusive presentations by prominent industry figures, Gaetan Guillosson, India Country Manager at Cartier, and Sean Gilbertson, CEO of Gemfields, adding an extra layer of expertise and insight to this remarkable gathering.

While guiding the girl students in the programme, Mr Nimbaram said that it is very important to have proper mindset, body and facial expressions and practice for learning self defence. While facing your enemy or attacker, you have to be vigilant and fearless instead of running away from them. Therefore, it is crucial to practice the self-defence techniques consistently. He said that looking at the situation in the present times, women and girls should be prepared to protect themselves instead of depending on others for their protection.

On this occasion, MP Diya Kumari encouraged the girl students and said that I feel very proud to see that our daughters of Jaipur are moving forward by learning self-defence. Considering the current situation of Rajasthan, where crimes against women have increased so much, it is the need of the hour that we all become self-reliant and protect ourselves. Diya Kumari further said that it is very important to be fully trained. She said that if we can make even one woman self-reliant, we can bring change in the society. 4000 girls have benefited from the self-defence workshop organised by PDKF. Along with this, MP Diya also expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for passing the Nari Shakti Vandan Act. She said that the provision of 33 % reservation for women through this act is a big step towards women empowerment and gender equality.

On this occasion, MP Diya Kumari also congratulated the PDKF members on the successful completion of 10 years.

Under the leadership of Sub Inspector of Nirbhaya Squad, Indira Ahlawat, the masters of Nirbhaya Squad trained the students and gave insightful self defence tips and techniques through demonstration. She also informed the students about various helpline numbers for women's safety, cyber cell, laws and rules related to protection of women.

Girl students from various schools, universities and organisations participated in this event - Government Maharaja Girls School, Rawat Public School, Maharani Gayatri Devi School, Vivekananda Global University, Subodh Public School, The Palace School, MSBS, Mahaveer Public School, Jai Durga School, Jaipur Happy School and Dhruva Bal Niketan. Additionally, women from PDKF (Badal Mahal) and PDKF (Murlipura) also received training on the occasion.

Under the leadership of renowned photojournalist Mr. Purushottam Diwakar and Educationist Mrs. Leela Diwakar, Imagine Photojournalist Society celebrated the World Photography Day on Sunday, August 19, 2023. Imagine Photojournalist Society, in its unique initiative of training and forming the women photojournalists team ‘Camera Commando’, marked this day with thought-sharing sessions by two eminent Guest Speakers – Mr. Vishal Swami, Founder of Simply Gurgaon & Digital Social Media Expert and Mr. Nitin Jagad, Marketing Communication Expert.

Purushottam Diwakar, Sr. Photojournalist at India Today Group said, “Photo capturing is a combination of Science, Arts and Commerce. Every photographer must learn the science of lights; arts of emotions and commerce of market the images in an effective way. I have had many assignments where I had to choose not to communicate the negativity of the society by not disclosing some moment with the world simply by understanding my responsibility towards the society. And I am trying to inculcate that ethic of a photojournalism in ‘Camera Commando’ team also.”
