New Delhi, August 2025 :  When most people think of kiwifruit, they picture its vibrant green or golden flesh, rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants. But new insights from nutritionists reveal that the tiny black seeds embedded in every kiwifruit are also brimming with benefits.

“While the seeds alone won’t deliver the same nutritional punch as the whole fruit, they do offer trace amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin E, and protein—all of which contribute to better heart, brain, and antioxidant support,” says Rima Rao, Certified Nutritionist at Frutas de Chile.

Nutritional & Digestive Benefits
Kiwi seeds contribute to the fruit’s overall fiber content, aiding smooth digestion. Combined with actinidin—a natural enzyme in kiwifruit—they help the body break down proteins more efficiently, reducing the heavy or bloated feeling often experienced after meals. Eating kiwifruit with its skin nearly doubles fiber intake, making it even more beneficial for gut health.

Nature’s Hidden Potential
Beyond their health perks, kiwi seeds also carry the potential to grow new life. While it is possible to cultivate kiwifruit vines from seeds, the process is long and demanding—taking three to five years before producing fruit, and results often vary in taste and quality compared to commercial produce.
